MAKE YOUR PHONE YOUR MINI OFFICE
In this modern age, we use our phones more than we use any other device.
I use my phone to type important documents, create a spreadsheet, prepare slideshows and respond to my emails.
These are the basic things you do in a typical office on your computer.
There are free mobile apps that can be used to achieve all this without having the hassle of carrying around your laptop/desktop. I downloaded all of them from Google play store.
I use WPS office to draft documents and convert to pdf. I use the same app to prepare worksheets (spreadsheet). You can prepare other documents as well but that's basically what I use it for.
For reading pdf documents, I use Adobe Acrobat reader. I use it to read journal papers, ebooks, and review my draft documents. I love the feature that saves the last page you viewed, such that you don't need to recall the page you were on a document (no need to bookmark the page).
Google notepad is a very important app(for me). I take notes for my todo lists and/or prepare my shopping lists, I write down some ideas or questions that I need to ask so that I don't forget and some other basic things that I could think off at the moment. It is linked to my Google account so I can access the notes from my PC.
When in a meeting, I record the meeting with my voice recorder and playback later just in case I miss out some points. For this you may need a phone with very sensitive microphones especially in a larger meeting.
I use my phone's camera to scan documents, edit the image to the required size and dimensions using the photo editor and use it as either an email attachment or for upload on some websites. I use the screenshot tool as well to capture my screen display.
Google Chrome of course, is the default browser on Android phones. You can use it to browse any website you can think of. If it happens that the site doesn't have a mobile page or you prefer the desktop site, you can easily switch to the desktop site from the browser menu(see below; use the checkbox)
If you are a lover of online courses like myself then Udemy mobile app is the best place to go. I use it to buy developmental courses at cheap rates (they usually go on sale for frequent users of the site). What I love most about the app is the offline feature. I just download the entire course when I have a strong network connection and access it at anytime, anyplace. I've learned a lot from the courses I've enrolled.
You cannot have a phone and not access social media sites. I hardly login to social media sites on my PC. You can use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, LinkedIn etc both for leisure and business. I manage some Facebook pages so I make use of Facebook pages manager app. It is more convenient to make updates or reply to the page followers. Using the right skills and techniques, you can showcase your products or talents and reach out to the world using these social media apps (remember the IVM logo designer?)
In closing, don't just limit your phone for trivial things. It can be your major source of income and connection to people in high places. So go ahead, get recognised, sell yourself, reach out and build your business/career.
I've attached the screenshot of the basic apps I use for my mini office. They all available on play store.
P:S
I prepared this piece and uploaded it using my Nokia Android SmartPhone 🙂.
